RULES

BE RESPECTFUL

Be cool with your fellow players! Do not create drama or seek to harm other players. Never forget we're all human beings behind these user names, so be respectful. If a player is found harassing other players, engaging in hate speech, or promoting a toxic atmosphere in the game or in public spaces, the player will be banned from the game. While we always encourage players to communicate with one another and seek to resolve minor issues on their own first, the mod team is available to address any issues you have, be they large or small. See the Mod Contact page for information on how to contact the mods.

IC =/= OOC

Never think muses and mundanes are the same. It sounds painfully obvious, but a healthy reminder can never hurt. A character may be rude, manipulative, or even downright evil, but that does not mean their player is a bad person. They take on a role, and that's the whole point of roleplaying. Characters will most likely conflict with others in game, and we ask that you do not interpret this as a personal attack or translate in-character frustrations to out of character interactions.

BE 15+

At least. Anyone below this age will be rejected from the game. If someone is found to be lying on their age and actually be below fifteen, they will be banned from the game.

KEEP EXPLICIT MATERIAL OUT OF THE COMMS

While the Final Fantasy games can be mature, we ask that any explicit threads to fade to black or be moved to a journal or musebox.

STAY IC

Your characters will evolve throughout the course of the game. Their thought process will change, and maybe even their way of life. That's totally normal. Yet, that's no excuse to suddenly play an OC plastered with the face and name of a canon character. Let's take a practical example. If you app Darth Vader from The Empire Strikes Back, and suddenly he starts hugging everyone and preaching for love, there may be a problem with your characterization. Repeated out of character actions may result in warnings from the mods.

NO GODMODING

It means doing things your character cannot do. More often than not, it involves playing them with god-like powers, which means they are absolutely unstoppable. Godmoding often goes hand-in-hand with Powerplaying. What is it? It's when you decide what someone else's character does without their permission. For example, you the Vader-player can write that Darth Vader swings his lightsaber at Luke Skywalker, but cannot declare that "Luke is unable to block the strike and his hand is severed" unless, of course, both players have discussed and agreed upon this outcome beforehand. Godmoding and Powerplaying will not be tolerated, and are grounds for mod warnings and even expulsion from the game in extreme circumstances.

Infomoding is when you use OOC information ICly. You may know OOCly that a character is a bad guy. If they're hiding it ICly, however, and if they're doing a good job at it, it would be infomoding for another character to know they're a villain. Like with godmoding and powerplaying, infomoding will not be tolerated. 4th Walling (having a character recognize another character as a piece of fiction or 'breaking the 4th wall' between fiction and 'reality') is a form of infomoding and should only be done with permission from all parties involved.

DON'T BE A JERK

Players that harass others and make them uncomfortable in this setting will be warned, and repeated infractions will result in expulsion depending on the circumstances. Sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, and other bigoted behavior will not be tolerated and are grounds for being banned from Melodies of Eternity.

CONTACT US FOR BIG PLAYER PLOTS

We love player plots and hope to see plenty of them, but please if you plan on doing something vast that will affect a lot of PCs or NPCs, tell us about it at least a couple weeks in advance. There is a post dedicated to player plots to facilitate this communication. Player Plots have the potential to alter the course of the game's story, and will need to be approved by the mod team and announced in the mod Info Post. Please note, you will not need to apply for all logs, just for large, open plots that can yield EXP points.

DO NOT PLAGIARIZE

Copying and pasting what someone else has written will not be tolerated and the mods will reject any applications found guilty of plagiarism. Writing your own thing is a lot better (not to mention a lot more fun).

ACTIVITY CHECKS ARE MANDITORY

The AC requirement is one of the following:
- 10 comments (logs)
- 20 comments (mognet)
- One open post with at least five comments

The comments can be provided in a maximum of three separate threads, and must have been made in the current month. We will allow comments to be taken from posts that began up to three months prior. Any posts older than four months will not be usable as AC, even if the comments posted there are from the current month. If you have been on hiatus for at least two weeks, you are exempt of AC for the month. If you cannot meet the AC requirements for a month, you can elect to take a strike, but you will have to provide double AC the month after. Failing to respond to AC with your activity or to request a strike will result in removal from the game.

HAVE FUN

The entire point of roleplaying, and we tend to forget about it more often than we should.
